William Nickey, D.O.

  

Dr. William Nickey is Professor, Chair and Course Director of Nephrology in PCOM's Department of Internal Medicine. He joined the faculty in 1972. Dr. Nickey serves of the Board of Directors of the Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania's High Blood Pressure Control Program. From 1974 to 1993 he was Co-Medical Director of the Metropolitan Hospital's BMA Metro Dialysis Unit, and from 1981-1991 he served as adjunct clinical assistant professor of medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.  

Dr. Nickey is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and a member of the Working Group on Hypertension and Chronic Renal Failure of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. He has written for The Joint National Committee's Reports on Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (1992) and on Clinical Implications into the 21st Century (1989). Dr. Nickey received his D.O. from PCOM in 1966. He completed a fellowship in nephrology and hypertension at Hahnemann University Hospital and Medical College in 1971.
