Clinical Psychology

Clinical psychology programs at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine are offered through the Psychology Department. The Psychology Department offers students an integrated, competency-based curriculum specific to each program. Clinical psychology is a major subfield within psychology and those working in the field enjoy rewarding careers helping individuals move towards emotional good health. Clinical psychology professionals work with individuals, families, and groups in any number of settings including hospitals, academic settings or private practice.

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine graduates are well prepared to provide essential services—either in specialized treatment of certain disorders or in a more generalist environment—to today's diverse populations particularly the underserved.

At PCOM, highly credentialed faculty present a curriculum that addresses the most current developments in psychology teaching students the science of psychology with practical clinical applications. We offer a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation and teach students to apply empirically-supported approaches in delivering clinical services in collaboration with primary care physicians and providers. PCOM uses high-fidelity simulators and patient actors in its Standardized Patient Program, immersing students in realistic experiences and clinical situations. Students also benefit from learning in an osteopathic medical school environment and from a campus-wide sense of serving and understanding the "whole person."

Programs offered at PCOM include the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology as well as two post-doctoral certificates including one in Clinical Health Psychology and one in Clinical Neuropsychology.
