Call or write for a free newsletter on anxiety disorders and a referral list of treatment specialists.  Access message boards and event schedules as well as information about anxiety online.

Screening for Mental Health                           

Screening for Mental Health works with local organizations to provide screenings for depression, suicide, bipolar disorder, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, alcohol use disorders, and eating disorders.  Check out their fact sheets for more information on depression and other mental health disorders.  If you're concerned about your drinking habits, or a loved one's problems with alcohol, these additional resources may be helpful to you.

Contact ABCT or visit their Web site to obtain a list of mental health professionals in your state who use behavior therapy and/or cognitive behavior therapy - forms of treatment that are usually goal-oriented, short-term, and drug free.  To request free fact sheets about psychological problems visit their Web site.

Delaware Valley Association of Black Psychologists

The Delaware Valley Association of Black Psychologists (DVABPsi) is an organization of black psychologists and professionals in related fields who are committed to developing human resources within the black community and interfacing with the community at large.  They provide FREE monthly professional development seminars that are open to the public.  In addition to professional development seminars, they also have a number of community events throughout the year.

 

National Association of School Psychologists

National Association of School Psychologists represents and supports school psychology through leadership to enhance the mental health and educational competence of all children.  The NASP website offers resources for members, parents, educators, and others interested in helping children and their families.

 

Pennsylvania Psychological Association

The purpose of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA) shall be to advance psychology in Pennsylvania as a means of promoting human welfare.

The PPA's website features an online psychologist locator for the state of Pennsylvania in addition to other helpful resources.

Philadelphia Behavior Therapy Association

Philadelphia Behavior Therapy Association is an interdisciplinary organization that promotes the practice of scientifically-based psychotherapy in the Philadelphia region.  It has a long tradition of providing education, promoting dissemination, and facilitating networking among the local CBT-oriented community.  The organization sponsors lectures, workshops, and discussions on therapy issues for the purpose of educating practitioners, clinical scientists, and the public on the effective practice of psychotherapy.

 

Philadelphia Society of Clinical Psychologists

PSCP offers members and the public a variety of services ranging from referral resources, low-cost therapy, continuing education, mental health updates, and social networking events.  The public may contact our office and find an experienced therapist located in his/her vicinity.  For those who may not be able to afford full-fees, they may qualify to see one of our Human Services Center clinicians at a reduced cost.

The public may also access a speaker to discuss a particular type of problem, or find a consultant to make recommendations to their organization.
