A highly competent ENT practitioner is the end product of this five-year Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Oro-facial Plastics program at PCOM.

The first year is a tracking surgical Internship where candidates spend 6 months in General Surgery and 6 months in the Rotating Internship.  The following 4 years are spent in various rotations in ENT.  These rotations encompass major areas of ENT as follows:

Academics
The didactic program includes temporal bone dissection, a journal club, head and neck radiology and pathology seminars, ENT annual examination preparation and review, and required basic science weekly lectures at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The Anatomy Department has a specimen available for temporal bone dissection.
 
The first-, second- and third-year residents are required to take a home study course that is prepared by the Academy of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.

Residents have access to PCOM's 60,000-volume medical library, on-line access to the Medline database and on-line access to every medical library in Pennsylvania, and computer and computer-assisted learning capabilities.
