Dr. Marsha Singer is a clinical assistant professor and associate director of the Master of Science program in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology. She has been teaching the course entitled "Integrating Seminar in Clinical Health Psychology" since 2001. She also coordinates the practicum experience for the second year MS in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology students.
Prior to joining PCOM's faculty, Dr. Singer worked for 13 years at Virtua Memorial Hospital Burlington County where she was a member of the Psychiatry Department and associate director of the Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Singer taught behavioral medicine, biopsychosocial theory, and counseling skills to resident physicians and medical students. She provided consultations for the medical staff and treated patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She also served as adjunct assistant professor for the University of Medicine and Dentistry-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, earning a teaching award for her efforts.
Dr. Singer's main professional interest is clinical health psychology. She is very interested in the role of cultural, spiritual and other psychosocial factors in health behavior and patient attitudes. She is also interested in the role of family members as social supports in medical and mental health settings. Dr. Singer is a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and maintains a clinical practice in addition to her work at PCOM.
