Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Penn State Abington Articulation Agreements

 


 

In only five years, you can earn an undergraduate degree from Penn State Abington and a master's degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in the following areas:

BA/MS in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology
Complete the first three years of prerequisite course work at Penn State Abington and complete your final two years at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). You can earn a bachelor's degree in psychological and social sciences from Penn State Abington and a master's degree in counseling and clinical health psychology at PCOM in just 5 years. 

The master's degree in counseling and clinical health psychology program prepares students to provide evaluation, counseling and therapy services in a wide variety of clinical settings. The emphasis of the program is on cognitive behavioral therapy and specialized training in behavioral medicine. Most courses are offered in the evening and on weekends to accommodate working professionals.

BA/MS in School Psychology
Complete the first three years of prerequisite course work at Penn State Abington and complete your final fourteen months at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). You can earn a bachelor's degree in psychological and social sciences from Penn State Abington and a master's degree in school psychology at PCOM in under 5 years.

The master's degree in school psychology provides students with a background in psychological and educational components that is applicable to the field of school psychology and is the first step toward state certification as a school psychologist. Successful graduates are qualified to enter the Educational Specialist Degree Program in School Psychology. Most courses are offered in the evening and on weekends to accommodate working professionals.

Penn State Abington students who complete either program and are interested in progressing beyond the master's degree will be given special consideration if they apply to PCOM's doctoral program in Clinical Psychology or the Educational Specialist Degree Program in Psychology.

Admissions Criteria to PCOM
For for admission to PCOM, PSU Abington students, wiht a minimum GPA of 3.0 can apply during their sophomore year at Penn State Abington, typically after Fall term grades are received. A letter of recommendation (from a designated Penn State representative), college transcripts, and autobiographical statement must accompany the application
