Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Science
Dr. Parihar is originally from Mumbai (Bombay), India, obtained a B.S. in Pharmacy from the Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT), Mumbai University and earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Monroe, La. He did a post-doctoral fellowship in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kan. Dr. Parihar is a registered pharmacist in Georgia.
Prior to joining the PCOM School of Pharmacy Dr. Parihar held faculty positions at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy in Erie, Pa. and Long Island University School of Pharmacy in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Dr. Parihar's scholarly interests are in the areas of drug design and development. His main research focus has been in the area of ligand gated ion channel receptors, namely the serotonin subtype-3 receptor (5-HT3R) and the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor (nAChR). His main research focus has been to better understand the mechanistic details of drug-receptor interactions of 5-HT3R and nAChR.
