Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Dr. Shashidharamurthy received his Ph.D from University of Mysore, Karnataka, India where he studied the geographical variation in Indian Cobra (Naja naja) venom composition. After successful completion of his first post doctoral training from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, Dr. Shashidharamurthy joined Emory university, Atlanta, GA, and served as a postdoctoral fellow and then as an instructor before joining the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PCOM-GA), Pharmacy School as an Assistant Professor. At Emory University he is involved in studying the Fcgamma receptor (FcyR) biology.
During his postdoctoral training, Dr. Shashidharamurthy published several papers in peer reviewed journals. His main research focus is on delineating the independent role of FcyRs expressed on inflammatory cells and the complement components during immune complex (IC) mediated autoimmune diseases such as arthritis and vasculitis. His research interest is to design and develop the potential therapeutic approaches to treat the IC-mediated autoimmune diseases. Currently his research is supported by American Heart Association under Scientist Development program to study on IC-mediated cardiovascular diseases such as vasculitis.
