The Master of Science in Forensic Medicine Program is a full master’s degree program that prepares students to become lifelong learners by developing a baseline of analytic and critical thinking skills that will prepare them for the challenges of forensic medicine and to positively affect the lives of their patients and their patients’ families, their employers and their communities.
The Master of Science in Forensic Medicine Program is designed for individuals who have an undergraduate degree and background in the sciences. The curriculum consists of one year of didactic (face-to-face classroom) coursework that meets one weekend per month followed by a year of online coursework as well as a capstone project. Classes during the first year (August-May) will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM. Online classes begin in the summer of the second year.
Typically, our enrolled Master of Science in Forensic Medicine students have backgrounds as:
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Nurses (BSN & beyond, e.g. Nurse Practitioner)
- Paramedics
- Criminal Investigators
- Coroners
- Law Enforcement Professionals
Work experience is not required to enter the program; recent college graduates are accepted into the program. Those applicants who are interested in applying for the Master of Science in Forensic Medicine Program but who do not have an undergraduate degree and background in the sciences may first apply to the Pathway Program.
