Paula M. Gregory completed her Osteopathic Medical Degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and a family medicine residency at Emory Northlake Medical Center in Tucker, Ga. She was in solo family practice from 1989-2000. During that time she served on the Medical Executive Committee for Emory Northlake, and on various committees and as chair of the Family Medicine Department chair and Inpatient Educational Committee.
She completed her MBA with additional classes in leadership and corporate governance from Kennesaw State University with highest honors in 1999. As a member of the physician executive committee, she took leadership training from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement. She is also board certified and subsequently became a fellow of the College of Risk Management, Utilization Review and Patient Safety and is a certified Patient Safety Officer. She completed those courses through a fellowship in 2005.
Through this time she has worked in medical education as the Medical Director of the Family Medicine Practice and Associate director of the dually accredited residency program at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ga., and as medical director for the state with Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Gregory was a clinical clerkship physician for both the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University. She currently serves as president of the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association.
Her interests include chronic care and process redesign. She is certified in diabetes care by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. She has presented papers to two national conferences on diabetes, curriculum redesign in a residency program and concordance of the Diagnostic Related Group system. Dr. Gregory has also published a chapter for Wiley's edition of Essential Evidence Plus.
