All students apply and matriculate initially as Master of Science in Biomedical Science students and complete the 29 credits of foundation courses. Application for a degree-year concentration track can be made at any time after the first term of the foundation year study.
Advanced Studies in Bioscience Concentration (Non-Thesis)

The degree track leading to a Master of Science (MS) in Biomedical Sciences may be completed in two or three years and is intended for those students who wish to extend their knowledge of the biomedical sciences. The degree program provides a strong base of biomedical content in the first year, followed by a concentration in the degree candidacy
year(s).
The MS program non-thesis track is designed for those students seeking additional biomedical science education for a variety of career tracks. These could include careers in other health-related professions, teaching, science writing, or the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Students may also choose to complete the master of science (non-thesis) as additional preparation for professional school admission. The non-thesis curriculum is conducted at the Georgia Campus. Coursework in the non-thesis master's concentration includes graduate-level training.
Learning Objectives
- Upon completion of the MS in Biomedical Sciences program, the student will be able to: Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the important fundamental concepts in the basic biomedical sciences. Utilize technology to acquire information and solve problems in health and biomedical sciences.
- Demonstrate proficiency in applying scientific knowledge in problem solving.
- Apply information skills to access, synthesize and interpret biomedical science literature.
- Utilize scientific method, hypothesis generation, literature search, approaches to quantitation of results and presentation of the research relevant to its significance to health care organization, biomedical science or forensic science.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with mentors and peers in written and oral presentation.
