ODL Alumni and Community Social and Networking Event
On Friday, June 14, 2013 the Organizational Development and Leadership Program held their Annual Alumni and Community Social and Networking Event at the Manayunk Brewery. The event was attended by an excited group of alums, current adult learners, faculty and guests. It was a spirited event full of hugs, storytelling and laughter that kindled a warm spirit of reconnection throughout the entire evening. And of course, there was plenty of food and drink as the crowd enjoyed music by EpicSoul.
ODL Alumni Board Representative Shanda Lucas welcomed the new group of adult learners who just completed their final project journey into the alumni community at PCOM and were very much engaged with the mood of celebration. Shanda expressed her hopes as a new member of the Alumni Board and encouraged the ODL alums to get even more involved and share their many gifts to support Alumni Affairs and the PCOM community.
Dr. Jeff Branch, ODL Program Director, also announced the upcoming and exciting new educational offering. The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in ODL (CAGS-ODL) will be available to candidates who have a Master’s degree in any discipline and want to enhance their skills as leaders and deliver individual and organization results. Staff Spotlight
Robert Cuzzolino, Ed. D - Vice President for Graduate Programs & Planning
Robert Cuzzolino, Ed. D has been Vice President for Graduate Programs and Planning since 2002, but he has always planned on a career in education. The son of a high school history teacher, Dr. Cuzzolino first pursued experimental and counseling psychology with the intent of working in clinical practice before moving to education. The appeal of being able to create widespread and long lasting positive change led him to start working at PCOM in areas of student affairs and academic planning shortly after earning his M. Ed. in Counseling in Higher Education from Kutztown University.
It has been 34 years since then and Dr. Cuzzolino is still driven in his pursuit of PCOM’s academic excellence. He credits his consistent enthusiasm to the College’s ability to adapt and progress, as well as to the students and faculty he has worked with who taught him so much. Admissions and student affairs were the same office when he started, and Dr. Cuzzolino gained a wealth of experience from DO admissions interviews and counseling students, learning directly from PCOM veterans like Carol Fox, Tom Rowland, Bob England, David Heilig, Sherwood Mercer, and Spencer Bradford.
Dr. Cuzzolino is very proud of the graduate programs that he has helped create. Currently, he is especially excited about the enrollment of the first senior class of the School of Pharmacy. He also takes pride in PCOM’s relatively recent move towards a strategic planning and assessment culture. The use of annual planning, budgeting, management, and setting goals has improved upon the College’s inherent growth that inspires Dr. Cuzzolino , and the regular assessment of PCOM’s academics allows for charting the development of the students and sending forth graduates with an empirically proven effective medical education.
In his downtime, Dr. Cuzzolino enjoys playing golf, landscaping and applying all of the planning and patience he employs at PCOM to working on his ’61 Ford Thunderbird. He has a son who is a policy analyst for the White House and a daughter who teaches third grade in Arlington, Virginia. His wife spent many years as an editor in the publishing field and shares Dr. Cuzzolino’s passion for education; she currently works part-time in PCOM’s writing labs.
