The Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology program builds upon the specialist level training of in-practice school psychologists to prepare them to be leaders in psychoeducational services to children, youth and families. The program trains practitioner-scholars with an emphasis in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and neuropsychology in the school. The curriculum integrates the Department of Psychology's interdisciplinary core graduate courses, the competencies listed by the Council of Directors of School Psychology programs (CDSPP) and the core areas recommended by the National Association of School Psychology (NASP). PCOM's PsyD program in school psychology is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists and ASPPB (Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards).

REQUIREMENTS
An applicant to the doctor of psychology in school psychology must have completed a master?s degree in school psychology or a related field at a regionally accredited college or university, with a grade point average of 3.00 or better.
Applicants must have completed, prior to admission, all course required for state certification in school psychology. In addition, it is expected that all candidates will have had the equivalent of at least one 3-credit course in each of the core foundation areas for a degree in psychology as follows: ethics, research, statistics, psychometric theory, biological basis of behavior, cognitive-affective bases of behavior, social bases of behavior and individual differences. Transcripts will be carefully reviewed by the Admissions Committee and a plan for remediation of any incomplete prerequisite requirements will be developed as a conditional acceptance into the program.

The PsyD program utilizes a rolling admissions policy, so applications will be considered throughout the year as they are received. Students will be accepted into the program until the desired class size is achieved, therefore it is recommended for candidates to submit applications early. Classes begin in the summer term.
The Admissions Committee screens applications, invites some applicants for an interview and to submit a writing sample, evaluates the applicants and selects the new students. Following completion of the admissions process, each applicant is notified of the Admissions Committee's decision in writing, including any conditions that must be satisfied prior to or following enrollment.
As an applicant to PCOM's Doctor of Psychology in School Psychology program, you are responsible for ensuring that all admissions materials are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
In effort to foster the safety and well-being of the entire campus community, as well as to ensure that students accepted to PCOM will be permitted to perform clerkships/internships required to successfully complete their degree requirements, PCOM requires all first year students to complete a criminal background check prior to matriculation. All students must have their criminal background checks processed through PreCheck. The Admissions Office will send notification of the process after confirmation of enrollment and must have this information on file prior to orientation; students will not be allowed to start classes without this information.

Technical Standards for Admission and Matriculation.
Respecialization candidates who have already completed a doctoral degree in psychology may apply for admission using the same criteria and links as listed above. The timeline to complete the degree program will be determined upon a full application review.
