ASSET CAPITALIZATION POLICY
The Board of Trustees approved a change in our capitalization policy effective July 1, 2006 as follows:
Capital Equipment/Furniture
Equipment or furniture with a unit value of $5,000 or more and a useful life of more than 1 year will be considered a capital item.
Renovation Construction
For cost associated with a renovation construction project only the construction piece will be considered a capital item provided the total cost is $5,000 or more. All equipment or furniture associated with the renovation \ construction project will be subject to the unit value of $5,000 or more as stated in the above capital equipment \ furniture policy
Capital Repairs
Generally, the repair must increase the useful life of the asset by at least 2 years past the normal useful life with a minimum cost of $5,000. Due to the complexity of capital repair criteria, please contact the Accounting Department for assistance. Each repair must be reviewed on an individual basis.
