The PsyD requires a minimum of 89 credit hours for graduation: 58 credit hours of didactic required courses, 12 credit hours of practicum, 9 credit hours of electives, 6 credit hours of dissertation preparation (Research III, IV, and V; 2 credits each), and 4 credit hours of Internship.

All students are required to complete courses in the prescribed sequence, and must take required courses and comprehensive exams immediately upon reaching eligibility criteria.  The objective and essay portions of the comprehensive exams are given immediately following completion of the first two years of required coursework.  The third and final portion of the comprehensive examination (STEPPS) is administered in the summer following the completion of the third year curriculum.  Students achieve Doctoral Candidacy and are awarded an MS in Clinical Psychology upon successful completion of all three portions of the comprehensive examination.

Students must complete the objective and essay portions of the comprehensive examination prior to enrolling in Research III: Dissertation Development Seminar.  If a student has not completed the dissertation after three terms of dissertation work, he or she must register for one credit hour of Dissertation Advisement per term until the dissertation is completed and approved.  These credit hours do not count towards the program's 89 credit hour minimum requirement.  Students must successfully propose their dissertation prior to approval to apply for internship.
